An iconic image of athlete Sir Ben Ainslie taken by Kos for his 3rd Olympics in Athens 2004, hand printed on INEOS Britannia’s AC75 carbon mainsail from AC36. The 2nd skin of the main displays its Union Jack. Between the two mainsail skins is suspended a fragment of King George V’s Britannia, which the King ordered to be scuttled on 10th July 1936. The 90-year old sail is made by Ratsey & Lapthorn, the historic sailmaker since 1790 and leading sailmaker to the America’s Cup since 1851. The art piece has been signed by Sir Ben on the occasion of the Royal Yacht Squadron being the Challenger of Record with its yacht INEOS Britannia. The artwork is protected and encapsulated in a custommade UV acrylic case and can either be wall-mounted or displayed with colour-controlled lighting on its transparent acrylic base. A wooden transportation box is included, custom-made by Cadogan Tate. Size: 299cm high x 199cm wide
